Tutorial: Draft Research Sections

Use completed analyses to prepare a preliminary-data or results draft with the PhenoWorks Agent. Start from a specific dataset and run so the text can be checked against the evidence.

1. Select the evidence

Find the completed pipeline and review its tables, images, and logs. Note the method version, parameters, plot labels, and any exclusions. Identify the research question and the comparison the draft should discuss.

2. Give the agent a writing task

For a grant proposal:

Use the canopy-cover results from pipeline 12 to draft a preliminary-data section for my proposal. Explain the method, summarize the observed pattern, and identify limitations. Do not add numerical claims that are absent from the results.

For a manuscript:

Draft a preliminary-results section from these plot measurements. Keep observations separate from interpretation and identify the dataset and method behind each result.

Replace the example pipeline ID with your run. Supply treatment definitions and other relevant context if they are missing. If the agent cannot retrieve a PDF or manuscript, provide the relevant passage; uploading it alone does not guarantee that its text is available to the agent.

3. Review the draft

Check numerical values, units, sample counts, methods, and references against the actual outputs. Confirm that the comparison is supported by the experimental design. Ask the agent to revise unclear passages or explicitly flag gaps rather than fill them with assumptions.

4. Take the draft forward

Copy the reviewed text into your manuscript or proposal and download the supporting figures and tables. Keep the pipeline and dataset identifiers with your working notes so you can trace claims back to the analysis.
